Evolution and Commitment: The Journey of Satyajeet Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd.

Satyajeet Urban Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. was established on April 1st, 1992, under the Maharashtra State Co-operative Society Act 1960. Originating as the Mehkar Co-operative Credit Society Ltd. with 13 members and Rs. 65,000 in share capital, it was founded by Mr. Shyam Umalkar to provide financial assistance during crises. In 32 years, it has expanded into Pune, operating from six branches, including the headquarters in Mehkar. The organization boasts 66 well-trained employees, with a strong commitment to continuous training for all members, directors, employees, and the sales force to maintain high-quality service.

Like many large organizations, which embark on their journey as small-scale enterprises and eventually become successful not only in India but also on a global scale, our cooperative society, PATSANSTHA, shares a similar story. Similarly, SATYAJEET URBAN has achieved a prominent place among other large cooperative organizations.

The story began with a visionary individual, our current chairman, who at the age of 39, dreamed of establishing a cooperative financial institution in his hometown, Mehkar, located on the Pune-Nagpur highway in the Buldhana district. This journey commenced on April 4th, 1992, with 13 other members, most of whom were between the ages of 27 and 29, except for a few. The initial share capital was a modest 65,000 INR.

The dream was to collect funds from the common people of Mehkar and utilize them for the development of the community through the cooperative credit society. The slogan “JANATECHA PAISA JANATECHYA VIKASASATHI” became famous locally and started building trust in the Mehkar Urban Cooperative Credit Society.

From 1992 to 2023 and beyond, the core principles of Satyajeet Urban have remained steadfast: Trust, Credibility, Transparency, Integrity, and Exceptional Service. Starting with just 14 directors and 5 employees, the journey has led to an impressive milestone. Within 30 years, Satyajeet Urban has amassed 195 Crores in deposits, extended loans worth 166 Crores, and its own capital funds have exceeded 48 Crores. This remarkable achievement is particularly noteworthy in a town like Mehkar, where industrial growth has been nearly non-existent.
