Strengthen community finances and enhance lives through excellent banking services
Mehkar, a part of Buldhana District in Central Maharashtra, faces challenges due to limited infrastructure, education, and healthcare facilities. With only one nationalized bank and a couple of cooperative banks until the early ’90s, obtaining loans for various needs was extremely difficult. In response, Shri. Shyam Umalkar and 13 colleagues established Satyajeet Co-Operative Credit Society in 1992 with a modest share capital of Rs 65,000.
They aimed to provide financial services to the community, including teachers, farmers, small business owners, government employees, and women. Within a short span, they attracted over 500 customers and amassed deposits of 3 crore rupees in just two years. The society’s goal was to support individuals at the micro-level with loans for various purposes.Welcome to Satyajeet Urban Co-Operative Credit Society Ltd.

Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan
In Shegaon, known for Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj, a prominent saint of the 20th century, the pilgrimage site witnesses a continuous stream of devotees. To accommodate the elderly, women, and children seeking darshan, various smaller Gajanan Maharaj Temples were built across the region.
In 1997-98, Chairman Mr. Shyam Umalkar and colleagues acquired 2 acres of land along the Nagpur-Pune highway to establish the Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Seva Sansthan, Mehkar. Over time, with the guidance of spiritual leaders, the committee constructed a two-story octagonal temple in Mehkar.
The committee hosts three significant annual events as outlined below- Gajanan Maharaj Birth Anniversary (Pragat Divas)
- Rushi Panchami (Memorial Day of Shri Gajanan Maharaj)
- Dusherra (Last day of Navratri Utsav)
